Cyndi Horn
At the age of 18, I discovered the incredible world of color with a paintbrush. Soon after that the only thing that mattered was what I created on canvas. It usually happened after midnight in the privacy of my bedroom when everyone was asleep except for creative individuals like me.
I went on to a career as an artist, exploring my creativity in Interior Design through Faux Finishes and Fine Art and as a Graphic Designer for Print, and Film and Video/Advertising...Here is a bit of my journey...
For 2 years I lived and breathed paint participating in
local art shows in Florida and the Bahamas where I received several awards for my works including:
1st Place Painting Award Riverside Preservation Society,
1st Place for Painting Category
Member Longbranch Artists and Artisans, Nassau, Bahamas
I studied under well known local artists and attended workshops in Florida and the Bahamas until I decided to go to school and pursue
a professional career as a student for a while. There I discovered
the world of Visual Communications where I earned my BA degree.
I was fortunate to start my design career at a very well-known
Design studio where I began my new and exciting journey
as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator. I have worked in print
design for various Advertising agencies and studios. I then
spent 5 years at CNN doing television design for On-Air graphics.
Durng the early 90’s I decided I wanted to use
my fine art painting experience and apply it to a different
form of Interior ART which led to my exploration of
faux painting. I basically experimented with natural
materials like wood, marble and stone textures. I would
buy old pieces of furniture and give them a new look
with these finishes. I then started working with a well-
known Interior Designer in Nassau, Bahamas for various
individual clients. There I attended a few workshops
for gilding and various foil techniques.
I have painted walls, staircases, pillars, furniture, nature sculptures
and accessories like clay jewelry. I feel there is endless creativity that can be accomplished with paint and a good pair of skilled hands and eyes!
